Going to Work with Daddy

Sometimes we get so overwhelmed by how much we can and should do for God, that we do not realize how He sees us, and how much He actually does not NEED our help. However, even though He does not need our help. He loves for us to be with Him.

Just like a little kid who wants to go to work with their dad, I can imagine some of our prayers ascending to heaven kind of like this...

"Daddy, can I sit on your lap while you work on the computer today? I know I spilt apple juice on your laptop last time, but I can help you better this time..."

Or perhaps, "Daddy, can I help you mow the yard? I know my mower is only plastic and blows bubbles, but when I follow your mower, the grass gets cut..."

And how about, "Daddy, can I sit on your lap on the tractor? I know that I always fall asleep and tie up your hands, but I get to be near you and feel your heartbeat in your chest..."

You see, so many times, we see ourselves as though we really have something to offer God. We think He really needs our help. He really needs us to DO something for Him. But in reality, He just wants to be with us and to partner with us.

Our help really isn't help, but He sees us as His children and loves us so much. He just wants us to be with Him. He will teach us as we learn and grow, but to enter the kingdom of heaven, we have to come like a little child.

"Daddy, can I go to work with you today?"
